Many claim the title of Popular Culture Guru during this time of faschination with all things Retro, but this moniker can truly be applied when speaking of Tom Fontaine. A native of Indianapolis, Tom, at the incredible age of six, embarked on the journey that was to become his life's passion...that of Collecting Memorabilia...Tom says "There are just some people who are drawn to things of historical importance...Things that were there at the pivotal moments in history...They put the collector at the scene when physically the actual witnesses to these events are limited". Make no mistake; this collecting bug is not some kind of hobby for Tom...His coffers run very deep...He has one of the largest if not the largest collection of Pop Culture Memorabilia in the world...his modest Midwest home is packed to the gills with one of a kind items spanning every type of media..."it's much like living in a ever changing museum" Tom explained.
Although, Tom has built his reputation on the back of his extensive knowledge and collection of The Beatles, This is but a small portion of what he has to offer...He has been the object or the source for many a Television and Radio show, as well as numerous publications. Tom holds the honor of being the first so called, "Non Celebrity To grace the cover of 'The Autograph Collector" magazine in it's 18 year history. He is a member in good standing with the UACC and was voted by his peers as "Collector of the Year 2004". Also, Tom has worked with all of the Major action houses culminating in the largest and most lucrative public sale of a U.S. signed 1964 Beatles LP selling for the incredible sum of $77,000 U.S. as well as Elton John's original upright piano which was on display, among other fascinating items, at the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.
As the Internet has helped make the world smaller, Tom has become a major force in this new media with his roundly acclaimed Web sites "Rock and Roll Investments", "Beatles Signature Study". Lastly, Tom is closely affiliated with the only Beatles organization sanctioned Media outlet "Beatle Brunch" where he is the source for various stories and interviews as well as providing Authentication services for the Classifieds Department. Such is the demand for Tom's Special brand of fun; he is about to embar on a limited speaking tour. Bringing his knowledge and selected highlights of his collection, and of-coarse his wacky enthusiastic view of life to various cities across the nation...
